Monthly Update: April 2019

April 2019 Savings

Time for Zero’s monthly Net Worth and Savings update for April 2019!

Net Worth: $131,850.16

As mentioned in 2018 Recap post, I do my Net Worth calculations on the 20th of every month. This is so that all of my automatic transfers have cleared for the paychecks coming in on the 15th of every month.

April’s Net Worth was $131,850.16, which is +$5,133.54. The 401k aren’t updating properly still, which is pretty annoying.

Savings: $2,141.03

In January, I saved $2,141.03. And I made $566.03 in Side Hustle and Passive Income.

This brings my YTD Savings to $17,056.04.

The paycheck to savings was $0 this month, because I bought myself a MacBook Pro. I’ve been planning on buying it for almost a year, but now that I have to record my courses on my laptop and have declared publicly that I’m quitting work and BaristaFIRE-ing within the next year, I decided it’s time to take the plunge!

No regrets. And it feels great to be able to so easily cash-flow such a huge purchase!

Saving$0
401K$1,575
Interest$41.85
Side Hustle$524.18
Total Saved$2,141.03

Side Hustle Income: $566.03

In April, I had interest income, eBook income, dog sitting income, Amazon Affiliates income, and few other miscellaneous incomes.

Here’s a breakdown of my Passive and Active Income from Side Hustles. The Interest was already counted in the savings above, but it’s also included here because it’s part of my passive income.

My YTD income from Side Hustles is $5,960.79.

Passive Income

eBook$252.36
eCourse$0.00
Interest$41.85
Other$146.82

Active Income

Sitting (Baby/Dog)$125.00
Writing$0.00
User Research$0.00

I hit 100th ebook sold in April, and the income from it has been steadily going up month to month, from $102.89 in January to $252.36 in April, at rate of around +$50 a month in growth. I also changed the pricing structure a tiny bit last month.

Interest income didn’t go up much because I didn’t save the extra $1,500 that usually gets deposited in there. But even with just the side hustle savings, it went up a little bit, which is nice.

Last month’s video course income was $798.03. I have another month and a half before the $2,000 royalty advance is paid off, I’m assuming. After that, I’ll start earning actual paychecks! And within the next few months, my 2nd course should go online (I’m recording the last few videos now).

And hopefully not too long after, courses 3 and 4 will go live too. If all 4 are up and running as planned, I’m hoping for around $2,000~$4,000/month of passive income from those. Fingers crossed!

YTD 2019

Savings Goal: $45,000

My 2019 Savings Goal was $40,000. Having reached over $11,000 in the first 2 months, and realizing that if I didn’t earn a single extra dollar from side hustles this year, I’d reach $40,000, I decided to up it to $45,000.

With April’s savings, I am 37.9% of the way there!

Net Worth Goal: $150,000

My 2019 Net Worth Goal is $150,000. With April’s Net Worth, I am 87.9% there!

Hehe I’ve been so busy and exhausted I haven’t been applying. Maybe once I’m retired, I’ll do more. Would be nice way to earn a bit of cash while everyone else is at work! Haha.
